How families opt in to Notifly text messages
Notifly sends one-way school update texts (class news, attendance, behavior, reminders) from K-12 schools and teachers to parents, guardians and school staff. Nobody receives texts unless they opted in themselves by one of the methods below. Turning on texts is always optional and never pre-selected; families can use email only. Opt-in date, method and the wording shown are stored for every number. Phone numbers and opt-in data are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing. See our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Method 1
Sign-up form from the school's QR code (web form)
- The school or teacher gives families a QR code: on a printed flyer, a take-home sheet, or shown on the teacher's phone.
- The parent scans it with their phone camera. It opens a Notifly sign-up page at mynotifly.com showing the school's name and the teacher who invited them.
- The parent enters their name, their child's name, email and (optionally) mobile number, and chooses a language.
- Text messages are off by default. To get texts, the parent turns on "Opt in to SMS messages", directly above this disclosure:

By turning on text messages, you agree to receive school update texts from [School name] via Notifly, such as class news, attendance, behavior and reminders. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.
- After they submit with texts turned on, Notifly sends this confirmation: "[School name] via Notifly: You're subscribed to school updates. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out."
Method 2
SMS sign-up on the Notifly website
- On mynotifly.com, the visitor clicks SMS sign-up at the top of the page.
- They enter their mobile number and must tick both boxes (neither is pre-ticked):
Receive Academic SMS Alerts
☐ I agree to receive school update text messages from my child's school and teachers, sent by Notifly, such as class news, attendance, behavior and reminders. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to unsubscribe. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
☐ I have read and agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. I consent to collection and processing of my personal data as described in these documents.
- After they subscribe, Notifly sends the same confirmation text shown above.
Method 3
Reply START (keyword), when a school adds a number
- Some schools add family contact details that parents already gave the school at enrollment. Adding a number does not opt it in.
- Notifly sends one request (at most once every 30 days, and never again after STOP). No other texts are sent unless the person replies START:
If there is no reply, or the reply is STOP, the number receives no further texts. The opt-in keyword is START (YES also works).
Opting out and help
Replying STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) stops all texts immediately and is recorded. Texts only resume if the person replies START.
Replying HELP returns:
Message frequency varies by school. Message and data rates may apply. Questions: support@mynotifly.com.
